Precycling tips the scale in your favor … and helps the entire community by preventing waste from entering the community’s waste stream. It reduces the pounds of waste per day that we dispose of in our landfill.
• Avoid disposable products (like disposable razors, diapers and cleaning products designed to “clean and toss”).
• Bring your own, reusable shopping bags.
• Avoid products in multiple layers of packaging.
• Avoid buying products that don’t come with recycled packaging.
• Buy in bulk (and bring your own container, if possible).
• Repair and reuse instead of purchasing new.
• Use durable coffee mugs and bring your own to your favorite coffee shop.
• Use cloth napkins and towels.
• Use reusable plates instead of paper.
• Refill water or beverage bottles.
• Donate old magazines or surplus equipment.
• Reuse boxes.
• Turn empty jars into containers for leftover food.
• Purchase refillable pens and pencils.
